How do You Know That You Have a "Performing" Marketing Manager?

There are only 2 kinds  of marketers today, either the performing one or the non-performing one. That’s it and nothing else. Non-performing marketers are big spenders of your company marketing budget who do not clearly defined high sales revenue through the conversion of their marketing strategies. Non-performing marketers are often lost in their own egoistic world in believing that nobody except themselves are smarter in marketing.

Performing marketers, on the other hand, show actual results from their marketing efforts and creative strategies, thus bringing in the sales revenue and profits for their company fast and clear.

So how do bosses know if their marketing manager is a winner or a loser? Here  are the 3 common characteristics that you should find in them.

He or she should be somebody who…

1. Has Independent Thinking

Performing Marketers Think Out of the Box Constantly and Independently

Performing Marketers Think Out of the Box Constantly and Independently

The marketer needs to think independently. Having own judgement and able to analyse the market and consumer demand based on realistic statistics. On the other hand, a non-performing marketer will tend to depend on “third parties” to make their marketing decisions.

These third parties are usually salesperson or advertising providers, who make money from selling ads and media products to them. Of course, the salespersons of the media products will definitely say their stuffs are good hoping to make more sales from their clients. Hence, their opinions are usually biased.

On the other hand, non-performing marketers will tend to depend on third parties for the outcome of their marketing results. They think that should problems arise, they can still point finger at the media provider blaming their ineffectiveness in lifting their business.

Non-performing marketers may look good from the outside but have no contents inside. A non-performing marketer who does not think independently, is merely a coordinator in buying media or advertising products between the provider and the company.

Hence, to be a performing marketer, you need to think independently and make sound marketing decisions, so that you can fully optimize your limited marketing budget to obtain the highest possible result.

2. Act and Produce Results

One Thing About the Performing Marketers is that They are Always in Action, Riding the Waves and Leading the Competition

One Thing About the Performing Marketers is that They are Always in Action, Riding the Waves and on Top of Their Competition

The performing marketer takes action. Not only that, he or she will continue marketing until they have seen the real results from the efforts.

Action speaks louder than words. On the opposite, non-performing marketers are all talks and theories. They are somebody who do nothing in creating or executing marketing strategies for their companies. They are the ones who wait for things to happen.

You should take action on your words and continue to produce real results. If one marketing strategy does not work for you, try another one until you find the right set of strategies that fits your marketing style. The right strategy should be something that you love to do, able to see money and something that you can do it fast and naturally.

3. Work Smart

Work Less and Yet Produce Outrageously More

Performing marketers are the ones who work smart. These marketers do not spend time on things that are not productive to the company. Examples of non-productive things are reading non-important emails for half a day, spend whole day spotting grammar and spelling mistakes in your website or advertisement,  hold meeting everyday and talk big about the marketing plan, the designs of namecards and other. And the biggest waste of time of all, is printing company brochures. Either you delegate all these stuffs away or the most sacrifice one hour of your day to do some of these. Non-productive stuffs should always be the last thing to do on your list.

First you need to define what is productive things to you. In simple terms, productive things are strategies that will bring in the money for your company immediately. Take creating a website for example. The faster you finished developing it, the faster your website can be marketed online so that you can bring in more profits to the company.

Work smart also means creating strategies that are low cost and yet able to reach your right audience market massively, quickly and on target. Take Google search marketing vs distributing your flyers. In less than 2 hours, you will be able to create adwords campaign  that is able to instantly reach your audience from millions of internet users in the world. It will be smarter than spending your whole day distributing your flyers to maybe less than a thousand people on the street.

In a nutshell, anyone can bring in more income to their company through great marketing efforts and strategies, if they constantly think and act independently and work in a smart manner.
